Watt Injury Puts Postseason Status In Doubt

Watt Injury Puts Postseason Status in Doubt

Steelers Place Star Edge Rusher on Injured Reserve

Knee Injury Sidelines Watt for Several Weeks

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt suffered a knee injury in the team's Week 1 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, putting his status for the postseason in jeopardy.

Watt, one of the NFL's premier defensive players, recorded two sacks in the game before sustaining the injury in the third quarter. He is expected to miss the next six weeks or so while he undergoes rehabilitation.

The Steelers placed Watt on injured reserve on Thursday, which means he will miss at least the next three games. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year is also recovering from a torn pectoral muscle that has kept him out of action since Week 1.

Watt's injury is a significant blow to the Steelers' defense, which is already missing several key players. However, the team is fortunate that Watt's injury is not considered long-term, and he is expected to return before the playoffs.
